What is a Rhinoplasty?
The art of Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that changes the shape of the nose resulting in a more elegant and natural appearance while at the same time correcting or maintaining the patients ability to breathe optimally through the nose.
Who is a Candidate
If you are unhappy with the size, shape, symmetry or overall structure of the nose you are a candidate . Rhinoplasty is one of the most complex plastic surgeries, therefore you must rely on your surgeon to understand the anatomy and techniques available to correct each unique nose. You will most likely be fully asleep during your surgery and you will wake up with a splint on the inside and on the outside of your nose. No packing is used. You will be seen on the 6th or 7th day after surgery and the splints will be removed at that time. It is important to refrain from smoking before and after your surgery for the best chance of healing . You will be asked to avoid heavy lifting for 10 days after surgery and you will experience some congestion and bruising initially.
Different Types
Rhinoplasty can be performed closed or open (small incision under columella ) .These approaches can be subdivided into preservation and structural techniques. Before and After
About Me
I have thoroughly enjoyed growing up and practicing medicine in the Ohio Valley. As a resident at The Cleveland Clinic I was fortunate enough to have obtained a great education in all aspects of ENT, but I was always drawn to surgeries involving the nose and sinuses. Rhinoplasty in my opinion epitomizes both the Art and Science of medicine. I have spent the last 25 plus years of my life learning and refining my Rhinoplasty techniques in order to give my patients the best possible outcomes I possibly can.
